Album Packaging Artwork

I created the cover illustration for the limited screen printed Sira Kura art-edition Double LP by Faratuben, released on Sounds Of Subterrania Records.
The project was developed and produced in collaboration through Spiegelsaal.
Designed as both album packaging and collectible art object, the edition combines music-inspired illustration with handcrafted screen printing.

Briefing

Faratuben brings together musicians from Mali and Denmark, blending electrified Bwa and Bobo traditions with synthesizers, clubbeats, jazz and art pop influences.
The album title Sira Kura — meaning “new direction” — reflects this fusion of tradition and modernity, which became the central idea behind the artwork.

Execution

The custom fold-out packaging was screen printed inside and outside as a handcrafted limited edition.
Created as an art-edition Double LP, the release combines collectible record culture with traditional printmaking craftsmanship.

Visual Approach

Influenced by West African rhythms, ceremonial symbolism and bold poster aesthetics, the illustration balances movement, energy and narrative elements.
The aim was to create artwork that visually reflects the album’s mix of tradition, celebration and contemporary musical experimentation.
