Stadtpark Open Air

Character Design & Festival Branding

Since 2020, I have created illustrations for the mascot and visual branding of Stadtpark Open Air in Hamburg.
Developed in collaboration through Spiegelsaal, the project combines character design, festival branding and music-inspired illustration to create a recognizable seasonal identity.

Briefing

Each season features a new “park resident” as the festival mascot — including a squirrel, hedgehog, owl and fox.
The challenge is to create a distinctive character that reflects the playful spirit of the festival while working across posters, digital media, merchandise and promotional applications.

Execution

The illustrations are developed as part of a flexible visual identity system and adapted for a wide range of applications, from printed materials and social media assets to on-site branding and merchandise.
Each new mascot expands the visual world of the festival while maintaining a consistent and recognizable brand presence.

Visual Approach

Influenced by pop culture, classic mascot design and music-related poster aesthetics, the characters combine bold shapes, expressive details and a strong sense of personality.
The aim is to create a memorable visual identity that feels playful, contemporary and instantly associated with the festival.
