Elbphilharmonie

poster series

In recent years, I have created illustrations for a series of concert posters and limited edition art prints for performances at Hamburg’s iconic Elbphilharmonie.
The projects were developed and produced in collaboration through Spiegelsaal.
These works combine music-inspired illustration with traditional printmaking techniques, translating a wide range of performances into distinctive visual statements.

Briefing

Unlike typical gig poster commissions, the projects for the Elbphilharmonie often span a broader musical spectrum — from jazz and rock to opera, film music and symphonic performances.
Each design reflects the character of the performance while fitting within the prestigious cultural context of the venue.

Execution

Most posters were hand-pulled screen prints in limited editions, using between two and five colors on high-quality paper stock.
Each print is produced in a standard 60 × 40 cm format, combining the character of a collectible concert poster with the quality of an art print.

Visual Approach

Influenced by music, pop culture and collectible print culture, the visual language ranges from bold and graphic to elegant and narrative-driven.
The challenge lies in balancing the expressive energy of poster art with the refined atmosphere of one of Europe’s leading concert halls.
